Strategic
Cooperation Agreement to Support Taiwanese and International Medical
Device Manufacturers
On June
7, 2000 Wolfgang G. K. Mueller-Lierheim, CEO of the German MUELLER-LIERHEIM
GROUP (MLG) and Chang Hsu, General Director, Center for Measurement
Standard, Industrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan, R.O.C. signed
a Strategic Cooperation Agreement in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This agreement
follows two years of practical cooperation under a non-confidential
information disclosure agreement signed in 1998.
ITRI-CMS
and MLG both provide high quality services to the medical profession,
the medical industry, professional and standards institutions, and health
authorities. The services of both parties are complementary with respect
to market presence, technical and human resources, and accumulated know-how.
This cooperation agreement will, therefore, strengthen ITRI's and MLG's
information basis, and broaden their service spectrum and market presence.
The Cooperation
Agreement is a corner stone in ITRI's mandate to contribute to the establishment
of a competitive, export oriented Taiwanese medical device industry
The international medical device regulatory and marketing expertise
of the MUELLER-LIERHEIM GROUP will effectively become available to Taiwanese
manufacturers through ITRI-CMS. On the other hand international clients
of the MUELLER-LIERHEIM GROUP will profit from ITRI's technological
background and involvement in the recent development of the Taiwanese
medical device regulatory system. MLG's Taipei Representative Office
will help to coordinate the joint services for Taiwanese and international
clients.
